Game Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026.

This policy explains what Threeclipse Inc. ("Threeclipse," "we," "us") collects when you play our games with gameplay statistics turned on, why we collect it, and your rights. It applies to the optional gameplay statistics feature in our games. Bug reports and playtest feedback are covered separately by our Playtest Privacy Policy, and this website by our Privacy Notice.

Threeclipse Inc. is the controller responsible for your information. Our contact details are in section 11.

1. What We Collect

When gameplay statistics are on, three kinds of data leave the game. All of it goes to the analytics service described in section 4.

1.a. Gameplay events we write

These are the events our own code sends. Today they are:

  • Level started: which level and which difficulty;
  • Level completed: which level and which difficulty;
  • First attempt result: whether your first try at a level on a given difficulty was a pass or a fail.

Crown & Applause sends these in campaign mode only. As our games grow we may add events of the same kind (timings, counts, milestones reached). If we add an event that carries a new type of information, we will update this page and the game will ask you again.

1.b. Technical data the analytics service attaches to every event

  • A random installation identifier, generated the first time the game runs and stored in the game's local settings. This is the only "user ID" we have for you, and it is not linked to your Steam account, name, or email;
  • A random session identifier and a timestamp;
  • The game version, platform, and build identifier;
  • Battery level and system volume at the time of the event.

1.c. Session and device events the analytics service sends on its own

The service also sends a few standard events when the game starts and stops, without any code of ours:

  • Game started and game ended (including how the session ended), plus a periodic "still running" heartbeat;
  • Operating system version, and your system language and region code;
  • Device hardware, once per installation: device model, CPU type and core count, GPU type, total RAM, and screen size and resolution.

1.d. Network data

Each upload reaches the analytics service from your internet connection, so the service sees your IP address and may derive an approximate (country-level) location from it. We do not receive or store your IP address ourselves.

Through gameplay statistics we do not collect your Steam ID, your Steam display name, your real name, your email, anything you type into the game, or any login credentials. Steam achievements and leaderboards are a separate feature; see section 2.a.

2. Why We Collect It (and Our Legal Basis)

We use this information only to balance and tune the game: to see which levels take longer than intended, where players get stuck, and whether difficulty settings do what they are supposed to.

We rely on your consent. We do not use this information for advertising, we do not build profiles of individual players, and we do not sell it.

2.a. Steam achievements, stats, and leaderboards (not gameplay statistics)

When you play through Steam, our games also use Steam's own features: achievements, a small number of progress stats (for example, total coins earned in Crown & Applause), and per-song, per-difficulty leaderboard scores. These are sent to Valve and stored against your Steam account under Steam's privacy policy; leaderboard scores are visible to other players according to your Steam profile privacy settings. This is part of how the game works on Steam, is not affected by the gameplay statistics toggle, and never reaches our analytics service. Playtest builds do not submit stats or leaderboard scores.

3. Your Consent

Gameplay statistics are off by default. The first time you launch the game, it asks whether you want to share them. Nothing is sent until you choose Allow. Closing the prompt without choosing counts as no.

You can change your answer at any time from the Settings menu ("Share gameplay stats"). Turning it off stops collection immediately and asks the analytics service to delete the data tied to your device (see section 7).

4. Where Your Information Is Stored and International Transfers

Events are collected and stored using Unity Analytics, a service provided by Unity Technologies, on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred out of Québec, the EU, or the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards: Unity Technologies relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers out of the EU and UK. We have assessed that your information receives an adequate level of protection before relying on this service. Unity's privacy policy for players of games built with its services is at unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy.

5. Who Can See It

Access is limited to Threeclipse team members who need it to balance the game. We do not share your information with any third party except Unity Technologies as our analytics provider (section 4), or where required by law.

6. How Long We Keep It

Raw events, including the technical data the analytics service attaches, are kept for up to 12 months after collection, then deleted. Aggregated statistics (for example, the average time to finish a level) contain no identifiers and may be kept for as long as the game is maintained.

7. Your Rights

You may ask us to:

  • Access the information we hold about you;
  • Correct it (rectification);
  • Delete it, or withdraw your consent.

If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to our processing, and to receive your information in a portable format.

The fastest way to withdraw consent and delete your data is the "Share gameplay stats" toggle in the game's Settings menu: turning it off sends a deletion request for your device's data to the analytics service. Because we hold no account or name alongside these events, we cannot locate your data from an email alone; if you need help, contact our Privacy Officer (section 11) and we will walk you through it. We will respond within 30 days. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing we already carried out before you withdrew.

8. How to Complain

If you have a concern, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator:

  • Québec: Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca)
  • Canada (outside Québec): Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca)
  • EU: your country's data protection authority
  • UK: the Information Commissioner's Office (www.ico.org.uk)

9. Age

Our games are not directed at children. Gameplay statistics are intended for players 16 years of age or older. If you are under 16, leave gameplay statistics off unless a parent or guardian has agreed. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Events travel encrypted to the analytics service, and we limit access to authorized team members. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

11. Contact

Gabrielle Nestor — Privacy Officer

Email: support@threeclipse.com

We will respond to privacy requests within 30 days.

12. Changes

We may update this policy as our games evolve. The current version is always the one posted at this page, with the effective date shown above. If we start collecting something new, the game will ask you again.
